Eleanora Figueroa Steiner, also known as Ellie, is a Peruvian-Australian production designer currently based in Los Angeles.

At the University of Melbourne she studied a Bachelor of Arts, double majoring in English & Theatre Studies, and the History & Philosophy of Science. Furthering her education at the American Film Institute Conservatory she completed a Masters of Fine Arts in Production Design with the support of the Screen-Australia Onbass Fellowship, a full tuition Scholarship.

Her most rewarding accomplishment so far has been as production designer of ALL THESE CREATURES, winner of the short film Palme d’Or at the 71st Festival de Cannes 2018. Screening at over 190 film festivals, including: the Toronto International Film Festival, Raindance, Rotterdam, Hong Kong and Busan. The film has won over 60 awards, most notably; ‘Best Short Film’ at the 8th Australian Academy (AACTA) Awards, 66th Sydney Film Festival and 16th Tirana International Film Festival; a ‘Firebird Award for Best International Short Film’ at the 43rd Hong Kong International Film Festival, and ‘Best Australian Short Film’ at the 57th Melbourne International Film Festival.

Other notable achievements include production and costume designing the short films: TÂM, which premiered at MIFF 68½ in 2020 and THIS PERFECT DAY, premiering at Tribeca in 2019. Production designing: BEAST, selected by Hollyshorts and Palm Springs, and winner of ‘Best Australian Short Film’ at Flickerfest in 2017 and ‘Best Horror Short’ at the 9th Berlin Independent Film Festival 2018; and WASTE OF TIME selected as a Top 16 Finalist at Tropfest in 2015.

In web series Eleanora designed the SUPERWOG series pilot which was nominated for an AACTA Award for ‘Best Online Video’ in 2018 and was the most watched Youtube video overall in Australia for 2017, reaching over 1 million views in its first 48 hours online. She is production designer of the series GIRL, INTERPRETED a Screen Australia funded production nominated for ‘Best Online Drama or Comedy Series’ at the 2020 AACTA Awards.

Designing music videos Eleanora has collaborated with internationally renowned artists; Paul Kelly, The Amity Affliction, Tonight Alive, The Bombay Royal, The Thundamentals and Peking Duk. The latter of whom received a nomination for ‘Best Music Video’ at the 2018 ARIA Awards for their track “Fire” extracted from the cinematic project REPRISAL.
